LOCATION OF POSITION ANYWHERE IN THE EAST AFRICA REGION DEPENDING ON HOME COUNTRY OF SELECTED CANDIDATE – NO RELOCATION BUDGET
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to provide Technical leadership and coordination of Channels of Hope (CoH) programming in East Africa Region. The position is Responsible for technical support in the implementation of Channels of Hope (CoH) project models, mobilizing and equipping faith communities to deal with specific situations that impact the wellbeing of children, such as Gender Based Violence, Child protection, HIV and AIDS and other infectious diseases, Child development, Maternal and Child Health, Behaviour Change and other issues affecting children’s wellbeing. Additionally this position is responsible to provide leadership for the integration of World Vision’s Christian identity and focus into the programming initiatives of various regional learning centers, lead, mentor and coordinate the training of CoH facilitators, ensuring CC initiatives are integrated into program design.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide Technical Assistance to East Africa Region Learning Centres (EAR-LC) and National Offices regarding the implementation of the CoH models to strengthen our Christian Witness and develop church/FBO partnerships. Lead and Mentor regional and national CoH training events and Behaviour Change(C-Change) in EAR. Provide support supervision to programs implementing CoH models in the region Responsible to develop and implement a mentorship strategy for trained CoH facilitators, in collaboration with NO CoH Point Persons, CoH Lead Trainers and the Global FPFD (Faith Partnerships for Development) Team. Participate in the planning and implementation of the Global CoH (4 project models) and c-PMTCT project model. Responsible to support and coordinate research projects in Christian Commitments and related fields to ensure learning and innovation Assist in the development of workshop/training curricula and tools at the different levels of the CoH programs. Assist in the mobilization of resources through proposal writing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
REQUIRED: Masters degree in Theology, Social Sciences, Development, Public Health or other related fields. Project Management training and skills Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in English, and ability to communicate cross-culturally and within inter-faith settings Minimum of 5 years’ experience in community development preferably in either HIV or health or child protection field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working with faith communities, either as a pastor/faith leader, or involved in faith-in-development work Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilitation and mentoring of adult learning events (training, mentoring, development of training tools) Trained in facilitation skills, preferably trained as a CoH lead Trainer and Mentor. High level computer literacy especially Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and ability to teach others. Demonstrated research skills are an Advantage, Leadership, management and interpersonal communication skills with counselling skills. Extensive experience in working with churches and church leaders across denominations, preferably at National Office level in the HIV and AIDS response Experience in middle management interaction and negotiations (e.g. interaction at regional level with various entities e.g. leaders of learning centers) Registered as a licensed CoH Master Trainer PREFERRED: Extensive experience in working with churches and church leaders across denominations preferably at National Office level in the HIV and AIDS response. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in community development preferably in either HIV or health or child protection field
